It’s frustrating-and it happens to kids every day. They’re told to listen as we instruct, direct, and correct them. Yet when they’re speaking, instead of paying attention, we’re often waiting to tell them something else.
Listening may be the most important part of conversation with kids. It’s a time when we can learn about them–and even learn from them (sometimes, we find out that they already know quite a few of the things we’re intent on telling them).
